How to Tie Up your Wind Generator in a Gale
A storm is about to arrive. You want to secure your wind generator so that it doesn’t blow apart in the crazy winds. But just how do you do that, when it is way up there at the top of a pole?
You need the not-patented Noel Swanson Wind Generator Stopper!
Get two pieces of plastic tubing – one about 2 inches ./ 50cm diameter (ie typical pvc plumbing pipe) about 18″ / 50cm long, the other about 6″ / 12cm for both diameter and length (ie typical pvc toilet waste pipe).
Bolt the two together so they are flush at one end, with the small pipe inside the big pipe. Make sure that one of the bolts goes all the way across the smaller pipe.
That’s it.
Now slide a broom handle into the smaller pipe until it is stopped by the cross bolt.
Hoist the unit up into the air, and slide it over one of the wind generator blades.
Tie the whole assembly to the windgenerator support pole with a couple of pieces of string.
Now your blades are secure, and won’t fly off in a storm.
