Hi you two world sailors. I can imagine how frustrating it is to anchor med style. I watched them before. I just purchased a new 270 RIB and it planes with me and a 4HP engine. With the big engine (8HP) Julie and I can go 30km/h. Made in China I purchased it here and paid a $1,000 plus tax. Have a look. http://hiboyacht.en.alibaba.com/product/502646408-209715307/RIB_boat_RIB_270.html

      Hi Wolf,

That RIB looks very interesting. You bought it from a local dealer? Did you get the PVC or Hypalon? We would need the latter as it sits in the sun all day every day. I wonder if we can get one out here in Sicily? The only thing is it looks like it has a ridge around the top to which the ropes are attached – is that comfortable for sitting on?

Also, did you end up getting a Rocna? Ours seems to be working very well.

        Hi Noel,
I purchased the rib at the boat show from a dealer in Sicamous. It is PVC but they also make Hypalon, more money of course. Get one in Sicily? Ask the mafia if they get shipments from China! We are sitting next to the rope, otherwise no it is not a good design but the price was right. We did not buy a new anchor, as I reverse stronger it holds very good. And I agree why go into a marina or into overfilled areas when you can have peace in a great spot all by-yourself.
Happy sailing and enjoy the pasta.
